The Accreditation Council
The Council claims to be "...a leader in developing and measuring quality indicators and standards for services for people with disabilities. Emphasizing values-based services and support, individualized planning, and person-centered outcomes, The Council is a resource for individuals, families, advocates, provider organizations, professionals and the public sector."
Cornucopia of Disabilility Information (CODI)
Serves as a community resource for consumers and professionals by providing disability information in a wide variety of areas. Includes a link to "Publications."
Direct Support Professionals Website
Provides practical information of use to individuals who provide residential, educational, and vocational services to persons with disabilities.

ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education

Federal Resource Center for Special Education
The FRC supports a nationwide technical assistance network to respond to the needs of students with disabilities, especially students from under-represented populations.

National Center to Improve Practice in Special Education through Technology
Practical advice on the effective use of technology to enhance educational outcomes for students with sensory, cognitive, physical and social/emotional disabilities.
National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICYY)
One category, Publications, includes links to full text digests.General Information leads to definitions of the 13 categories of disabilities under which a child with a disability may qualify for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD)
Options include a searchable database, the full text of NORD newsletters,links to organizations and support groups, a listing of local chapters,and a medical equipment exchange.
National Rehabiliation Information Center (NARIC)
NARIC collects and disseminates the results of federally funded researchprojects. NARIC's document collection, which also includes commercially published books, journal articles, and audiovisuals, grows at a rate of 250 new documents per month. Includes a link to REHABDATA, a searchable literature database.
On A Roll
Produced in conjunction with a weekly live talk radio show which describes itself as a show that shatters stereotypes and misconceptions, entertains with universal appeal, and provides information, resources and attitude! Of particular interest may be the web sites recommended by recent guests.
PACER Center
The Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights presents practical information and support to families.

Center for Information Technology Accomodation (CITA)
Includes guidelines for making web pages accessible.
Closing the Gap
Promotes the use of microcomputer technology for people with special needs. Features a searchable database.
DO-IT: Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking and Technology
Information by and primarily for persons in higher education. DO-IT promotes the use of computer and networking technologies to increase independence, productivity, and participation in education and employment. Includes a list of Web development resources.
EASI
According to the site: EASI's mission is to serve as a resource to the education community by providing information and guidance in the area of access-to-information technologies by individuals with disabilities. We stay informed about developments and advancements within the adaptive computer technology field and spread that information to colleges, universities, K-12 schools, libraries and into the workplace.
Standards for Electronic and Information Technology
The federal government has adopted these standards for government Web sites to be made accessible by people with disabilities. Federal sites must comply with the standards by June 21, 2001.
Trace Research and Development Center
The Trace Research & Development Center is a part of the College of Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Founded in 1971, Trace has been a pioneer in the field of technology and disability.  They are currently working on ways to make standard information technologies and telecommunications systems more accessible and usable by people with disabilities.
W3C (World Wide Web Consortia)
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential as a forum for information, commerce, communication, and collective understanding.  One part of W3C is the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative).  The Draft of their Guidelines is currently under legislative consideration.

American Foundation for the Blind
Includes the Helen Keller Archival Collection, several newsletters and bulletins, product evaluations, information about the organization, and more.

American Sign Language Browser
An online American Sign Language (ASL) browser where you can look up video of thousands of ASL signs and learn interesting things about them. The QuickTime browser plug-in is needed for the videos, but there are download instructions on the site.
Deaf Resource Library
An online collection of reference material and links intended to educate and inform people about Deaf cultures in Japan and the United States. Also includes other deaf and hard of hearing related topics.
National Association for the Deaf
Information about the organization, current legislative initiatives, articles reprinted from other NAD publications, and a list of links to other organizations and companies are included.
Mental Impairments

The Arc Home Page
Features information about the organization, fact sheets on topics related to mental retardation, contact information for local chapters,and legislative updates. Includes a searchable database arranged by destination.
Down Syndrome WWW Page
Provides information and support for families who have children with Down Syndrome.
Family Village
