About the LRC

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) on the sixth floor of Milner Library houses a large collection of videos, films, DVDs, Teaching Materials Center (TMC) unique teaching aids, LPs, and CDs on many subjects. The LRC contains approximately 8,800 videos, 2100 DVDs, 6100 CDs and 16,000 LPs.

  • Checking out materials - Videos and DVDs are checked out for one week to faculty and staff. Audio recordings are checked out for two weeks to faculty and staff, one week to students.

  • Browsing DVDs may be borrowed for one week by anyone with a current Redbird ID card.

  • For classroom presentations a student may borrow films (videos and DVDs) classified as Building-Use Only for 24 hours from the LRC with their instructors permission. The instructor must email the Learning Resource Center (libmrcstaff@ilstu.edu) with the:
    1. Student's name
    2. Title of the film, call number if known
    3. Date of the class presentation
    Students may preview the films in the LRC before their presentations.

  • Picking up materials - Faculty may designate students to pick up materials by e-mailing the LRC at libmrcstaff@ilstu.edu using your ILSTU account.

  • Faculty may schedule media for class use, by calling the Learning Resource Center at 438-2807 or use the Forms to Book/Order Materials link on this site.

  • Placing LRC Materials on Reserve - Faculty may put LRC materials or their personal copy of a film or recording on reserve for students. Some digital audio reserves are available. Please use this online form or call 438-2807 to place items on reserve. Please contact the LRC at least 1 week in advance.
