WOMEN OF WORLD WAR I

At regular intervals this section of our page will link to selections from the holdings of the University Archives.


The Illinois State University Archives, a part of Milner Library, was recognized in 1970 as the official repository of University records that have enduring value. The University Archives holds official records from governing boards, campus offices, faculty and student governance bodies, committees, colleges, departments and faculty and student organizations. It also collects the professional and personal papers of faculty, administrative staff and alumni, educational organizations in Illinois and manuscript or archival material related to individuals and local clubs or businesses in the area. The University Archives participates in the mission of the University by providing individualized attention to all patrons, by working closely with faculty to develop research projects to promote active pursuit of learning, and by providing historical information to administration, staff and students to enhance the decision-making process.

The University Archives is located at 2016 Warehouse Road in Normal, Illinois.

Hours:

  Full service hours are from 8am to 4pm Monday-Friday.
  Patrons are invited to call ahead to insure best service.

Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD)

Illinois State University also hosts an Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) administered by the Illinois State Archives. The ISU-IRAD houses county government records from these14 counties in east central Illinois: Champaign, De Witt, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee, Livingston, Logan, McLean, Marshall, Piatt, Tazewell, Vermilion and Woodford. The IRAD, located at 2016 Warehouse Road in Normal, Illinois, is open from 9am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, except for holidays. Inquiries may be made by phone (309/452-6027) or by mail (Illinois Regional Archives Depository, Milner Library, Illinois State University, Campus Box 1520, Normal, IL 61790-1520). We regret that we cannot accept queries via email.

Records in the ISU-IRAD differ for each county. The most common types of records include: birth, marriage, death, deed, probate and tax records.
